The six ‘impressive’ questions you should ask in a job interview

Most people would agree job interviews are one of the most nerve-wracking parts of life. They would also agree preparation is the key to nailing them.
It’s a given that knowing your resume and the company back to front and practicing your answers to common interview questions is essential.
But it’s also important to be prepared for when the interviewer inevitably asks: “So, do you have any questions for me?”
According to career guru Erin McGoff, having a couple of clever questions up your sleeve is a great way to leave a lasting impression, so she shared her top six.

In a TikTok video, McGoff shared “six impressive questions to ask at the end of a job interview” which she says will “make the recruiter say, ‘dammmmnnnnnn’.”
First, she strongly advised against asking no questions at all, but also shared that it wasn’t a good idea to “jump the gun” and “ask pointed questions” presuming you’ve already got the job.
McGoff said it was important to have some considered questions up your sleeve but to first be considerate of the interviewer’s time and do a “time check” before proceeding.

If you and the interviewer agree there’s time to spare, McGoff says these six questions are sure to impress:
McGoff suggested an extra impressive step would be to go home after your interview and introduce yourself to that person.
This question is a “sneaky way” of finding out about company benefits and culture while also showing that you did your research, she says.
According to McGoff, this is a “timely question that will vie you insight into the health of the company”.
Another question McGoff says “showcases research and proactiveness”.
McGoff says this is a great way to reiterate your interest in the company and showcase your confidence.
A simple one but an important one, McGoff says “don’t forget this question” as it will provide you with the necessary information you will need going forward.
